[HOW TO] How to kill all running apps with a swipe

SwipeAway is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to easily kill running apps with a simple swipe within iOS’ App Switcher. The tweak includes two options in the Settings app: the ability to swipe up, or swipe down to invoke the killing measure.

This certainly isn’t the first tweak that allows you to kill all running apps, but it’s likely one of the more intuitive methods for doing so. Take a look at our full video walkthrough inside for all of the details. As mentioned, SwipeAway contains two gestures to kill all of your running apps. Unfortunately, the swipe down gesture is not as preferred as the swipe up gesture for smaller devices like the iPhone or iPod touch. You can see a good example of why this is in the video above. For a device with more screen real estate like that iPad, then either gesture is be suitable.

As you can see, SwipeAway is far from a complex tweak; it’s a simple effort that does one thing particularly well. If you want to give it a shot for yourself, then check it out on Cydia’s BigBoss repo.

SwipeAway is a free download, so if you’re looking for a more convenient method to kill all of your running apps, then it’s certainly worth a try. Be sure to let us know what you think about SwipeAway in the comments section below.

[HOW TO] How to jailbreak Apple devices running iOS 6.0.1

iOS 6.0.1 was just released a few minutes ago, but we’ve already confirmed it can be jailbroken right now using the existing jailbreak tools for iOS 6.

Although RedSn0w was recently updated to 0.9.15b3, the update doesn’t yet include support for iOS 6. That’s okay, because you can still point at the already supported iOS 6 firmware and successfully jailbreak iOS 6.0.1.

Check inside for the full video walkthrough that shows how. Note: This is a tethered jailbreak for pre-A5 devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th generation) only.

Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 and iOS 6.0 for your specific device from here.

Step 2: Connect your device to your computer and place it into DFU mode.

Step 3: Open RedSn0w, and ensure it detects your device.

Step 4: Click Extras > Select IPSW, and select the iOS 6.0 firmware for your device. It should successfully identify the build.

Step 5: Go back to the main RedSn0w page and click Jailbreak. RedSn0w will process, and then allow you to install Cydia, which should be already checked on the next screen. Click Next, and the jailbreak will finish processing and begin on your iPhone. Keep RedSn0w open.

Step 6: Once the jailbreak is complete and you are back on your device’s Lock screen, place your device back into DFU mode.

Step 7: On the main page of RedSn0w click Extras > Just boot. This will perform a tethered boot. Your device should reboot with a pineapple logo.

Step 8: Once the device reboots, you should see Cydia on the Home screen.

That’s it, you’re finished! For more info on RedSn0w be sure to check out our dedicated RedSn0w page.

Check out these awesome iPhone-controlled RC cars

There’s no shortage of iPhone-controlled vehicles on the market these days. We’ve seen cars, helicopters, robots, and even tiny spheres that can be controlled with Apple’s handset. But we’ve never seen anything look this good. The folks over at iHelicopters.net, yes, the makers of the rocket-launching Cobra copter, just informed us that they’ve got a new lineup of iPhone-controlled RC cars out that we wouldn’t want to miss. And they were right… The company’s RC car collection comes in a number of different flavors. You can choose from gorgeous replicas of popular makes and models including an Audi R8, Q7, BMW X6, 5 series, or a more ruggedly-designed stunt racer. The cars are controlled by a dedicated iOS app, which interfaces with an audio jack transmitter. And judging from the video, they seem to be pretty well made. They’re fast, responsive, and can last for up to 60 minutes on a single charge. If you’re interested, you can purchase one of these awesome cars from iHelicopter’s online store. It looks like all models run just under $60/RM180, which is about middle-of-the-road for remote control vehicles. What do you think? Are these cars awesome or what?

- Dev Team CLI – A command line inteface that’s great for troubleshooting.

- RedSn0w – The Dev Team’s traditional graphical user inteferface used for jailbreaking. This will be released sometime later after the CLI.

How to Make iPhone Apps With No Programming Experience

Think you’ve got the next Great iPhone App idea?

We can show you how to get it made without any programming experience at all.

- Want to be part of a multi-billion dollar industry that anyone can get into?

- Don’t have 10,000 hours to get really good at Objective C & Adobe CS5?

- Don’t want to buy the expensive software and equipment needed to be your own developer?

- Want to earn passive income on the side without giving up your day job?

- Want to be like us and give up your day job and just make great app ideas a reality?

- If you answered yes, then we may be able to help you.

We can show you how can turn your iPhone app idea into a reality, without needing any programming knowledge, or buying expensive equipment and complicated software.

It really is amazing how easy it actually is once you figure it out.

We’ve turned our app ideas from thoughts and sketches to create and maintain an $800,000 per year business without ever having to design or program them ourselves. We spent a lot of time and hassle figuring out how to put everything together and have managed to build something amazing starting from nothing. Now we want to share our experience with you!

They say it takes 10,000 hours to get really good at something, that’s over 416 full days without taking any time to eat, sleep, or in fact do anything other than learning and practicing 24/7 for over a year. Not just learning to program in Objective C (the language used by Apple’s operating system), but also having to design the App’s graphics as well in programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS5.

I don’t know about you, but we really didn’t have the time or patience to learn to do all this things really well from scratch. Like you we have full time jobs and studies. We just had great ideas that we thought would be cool to share with people. So we figured out a better way to get it done.

Now we spent our time doing what you should be doing. That is coming up with great app ideas that we think people need, can use, get a good laugh out of, or be entertained by.

Think you’ve got a good idea? Don’t waste it by limiting yourself thinking that you don’t know how to actually make an iPhone App. Neither did we, and now we have 22 of them.

You see, we were just like you once. We had great ideas, but didn’t know how to create an app or get it published in the App Store. Yet we kept hearing about some amazing stories of people raking in massive amounts of cash from iPhone apps. You’ve probably heard of some of these apps yourself like Doodle Jump or Angry Birds. We wondered if it was really that hard to break into this industry.

Then we heard about this app called iFart and that changed everything for us. iFart made over $27,000 in just one day over Christmas 2008, it sold over 350,000 copies in the first two months of release and is now one of the most successful apps ever made.
It was at that this point we decided to begin our quest. If someone could really make so much from an app that plays fart noises, we knew we could get a piece of this action with our ideas. We poured over every book, article, FAQ and blog to hunt down information on creating apps. We tried learning the programming and the designing, asking questions and seeking any tip or strategy that could help us.

In the end, we almost gave up! It was simply too much to handle along with full-time work and studies.

Even though the web is swamped with tutorials and instructions on making apps, the problem with them was that they all seem to assume you already know how to program, and enjoy sitting tied to a screen debugging and testing code. Some people seem to enjoy that and we found much expert advice, but this was not what we liked doing. We enjoy coming up with ideas, not spending weeks coding and designing.
Then it occurred to us. There really are many experts out there making iPhone apps every day, though they weren’t coming up with ideas themselves. They were making apps based on someone else’s idea!

So what did we do rather than give up? It was very simple really. We outsourced.

2 Years, 22 Apps, and 27 million Downloads later
